Our Review of Top Online Poker Sites
While there are literally dozens of online poker sites out there
(with more being spawned every month), only three are listed below. This is due
to our site policy of not endorsing anything
we don’t use ourselves. As a group of online players, our editors have
tried over 15 sites collectively. We feel that the three sites listed below are
the best out there.
Things to keep in mind
when choosing a site:
- Every online poker site allows you to download the poker software for free
and sit at a play money table. Take advantage of that. Test out a few and choose
the software you feel most comfortable with.
- Nobody said you have to choose just one. Most of us here have accounts at
all three. We hop back and forth
if there is something worthwhile at one
of the other sites.
- Ultimately,
you need to choose the site you feel best fits
your poker game and personality. There is no right answer to the “which site is best” question.
Each person has their individual likes and dislikes. Give em a test drive and find the one that works for you.

FullTiltPoker.com - Online Poker Site Review
Most of our editors play almost exclusively at Full Tilt, although we make the occasional
trip to Party Poker or Poker Stars for some of the bigger tournaments. Full Tilt
is a great
place to improve your game.
PROS:
- Watching and/or sitting at the same table with professional players
(yes it actually does happen) is very cool. It’s just about the closest most of
us will ever get to being able to watch a professional play hand for hand. It makes
for a decent learning experience for those willing to pay attention.
- Sizable sign on bonus, and consistent reload bonuses.
- The level of play is pretty good here. Perhaps it’s the prospect of “playing with
the pros” that scares them off, but there seems to be less fish
here. In terms of improving the overall skill level your game, we feel this is a
good thing.
- The single table tournaments (sit n gos) start you out with 1500 in chips,
and have only 9 players. However, they still pay out the top three spots.
This makes it more of an actual tournament. By contrast, Party Poker starts you
with 800 chips, and has 10
people per table.
CONS:
- The player base is smaller than Party Poker or Poker Stars. Really
late at night, tables have a harder time filling up. However, I suspect this won’t
last long, as their base is growing quite rapidly.

Party Poker.com - Online Poker Site Review
Party Poker is the largest online poker site on the web. At any given time, there
are several thousand playing (sometimes 100k+). They have been around since about 2001, and have grown by leaps and bounds ever since.
PROS:
- An absolutely massive player base. There are tons of different games and
limits, and you’ll rarely have any trouble filling a table.
- The tournament options are much better than FTP. Their larger player base allows
for more tournaments with bigger payouts. They have 500k guaranteed tournaments
once per week. By comparison, FTP only has 200k guaranteed tournaments
about once per month.
- The competition is fairly weak even at moderate levels. Beginners will not
feel too intimidated. Bear in mind that a bunch of clueless players at
the table can actually be a bad thing…
CONS:
- The large player base can sometimes make tournament fields too large.
Getting through a field of 1500-2000 people can be quite a time consuming task.
- The software is decent, but we prefer Full Tilt’s. It’s a little easier to get to
your hand history, and we think the interface is a bit cleaner.
