A Review of the Best Poker Books for Holdem Players
A review of the best poker books for players looking to improve their poker games.
We are primarily no limit holdem players, so most of these are no limit texas holdem
book reviews. These poker book reviews are listed in the order we feel is most beneficial to new and amateur holdem players.

Harrington on Holdem : Volume 1 |
Player Level: Beginner-Intermediate
Written by: Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie
Our take:
A must have for those just starting
out with no limit texas holdem
tournaments. Dan Harrington is well known in the poker
world for his tight play and ability to survive in no limit tournaments. As tight
play is generally the best strategy for beginning poker players, this book is a
necessary read for new and amateur poker players alike.
It's a fairly easy read, and lays the groundwork for a solid no limit tournament
skillset. Each chapter ends with a series of problems and scenarios, helping to
reinforce the concepts taught in this book. |

Harrington on Holdem : Volume 2
|
Player Level: Intermediate
Written by: Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie
Our take:
This book is an excellent follow up to the first in his series. While volume one
laid out some excellent strategies for properly playing your cards in a no limit
tournament, this book dives much deeper into some more advanced strategies for surviving
no limit tournaments.
Much like the first,
it comes with problems that must be worked out at the end of
each chapter. This book is highly recommended
for anyone who plays no limit tournaments.

Phil Gordon's Little Green Book
|
Player Level: Intermediate-Advanced
Written by: Phil Gordon
Our take:
This book is one of the best on the market for no limit poker theory. Most
of us have read the covers off this one. Although a seemingly small book at first
glance, it contains enough theory and game strategy to keep you analyzing your own
approaches for days on end.
Above any book listed here, this one is our hands down favorite.
